Matric Farewell 2020
Castle Bridge School (CBS) seniors remember when Our President announced the 21 days lockdown to flatten the curve, and this will mean that schools would be closed for at least 3 weeks.
At the end of the 21 days, the President extended the closure, making it official: Online learning and interaction will be our new reality, most schools even had digital farewells during Level 5 and 4 of lockdown. All though going into that last weekend there was a feeling that we would not be coming next week, the senior class hoped to be back in class soon.
On top of all the academic worries, the other big hardship, some of the CBS seniors said, is missing out on the chance to have a proper farewell to all those who helped shape them and to savour all the senior moments.
Before schools closed, the Head boy and Head girl had big plans for their senior year such as events that would never happen. In addition to the matric farewell, prefects’ camps, family days and academic trips.
We thought there was a strong possibility the initial closure would be extended until the end of the academic year but hoped to go back to school again.
We all remember the fear we had when it was announced that we will be going back to school but the school management ensured that the school was a safe environment for learners to return and continue with face-to-face classes.
The uncertainty of a farewell was becoming a reality to learners and parents but due to all that had happened the school felt that this is one class that deserves a farewell and a night to relax and look back at the hectic year they had.
The night was a three-course meal as per CBS dinners and lunch style. The farewell was held at Tuscan Rose on a Saturday evening.
The evening consisted of a pre-event photoshoot to capture all the amazing outfits that show our learners’ personalities such as the Queen and the twins to name a few. The photoshoot was followed by arrival drinks and snacks before the programme started with an announcement of our Class of 2020.
The event was filled with motivational speeches, memory lanes from some teachers and learners, prize giving and whole lot more. Please have a look at our gallery as pictures say more….
